San Mateo Union High School District Screening Registration
Description

On Saturday, February 21, 2026, Peninsula Health Care District in collaboration with Kyle J. Taylor Foundation, and San Mateo Union High School District will be presenting a Free Heart Screening Event open to youth residents ages 12 to 25.
Heart Screenings are designed to detect undiagnosed heart defects that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and death. It is estimated that 1 in 300 youth suffer fromthese life-threatening defects and most will go undiagnosed until they lead to SCA
and/or death. The current standard approach to health history and annual physical examinations misses about 90% of at-risk youth because most conditions that can leadto SCA are NOT detectable with a stethoscope. SCA is also the leading cause of death
among school athletes.
